My books/magazines need protection.?

I have alot of books and ive got quite a collection of old hot rod magazines, but ive had some books that get eaten up by some paper eating bug. I dont know what theyre called, but I know ive had some books ruined by them. How do I protect my books?!
What kind of bugs are these? What kind of chemicals or natural products can I use (by them) to ensure my magazine collection doesnt get messed up.
